Saw a (now former) colleague off yesterday evening while listening to live music at the Old Town Festival in my town;
Working this morning and then going hiking if the weather holds out;
Baseball in Cologne tomorrow. It’s the Caps vs the Cards and I’m going with some of my baseball friends from Bonn.
So, I’ll leave you with this video I took of a great band called Rocktool at the Eurocityfest in Muenster on 18 May 2007 (if you like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, you’ll like this).

Don’t have enough time to do volunteer work? Here’s an easy way. Click on the banners to donate to different charities absolutely free. Do your clicks really matter? I have no idea (apparently they do), but clicking couldn’t hurt. So, please, everybody that reads this click on each banner. Thanks
‘Exam Season’ officially ended this afternoon! So now it’s ‘Catch Up On All The Things I Didn’t Have Time To Do During Exam Season’ season.
Hopefully I’ll be done by the time my ’school year class’ starts again.
I’ve never liked going to the doctor and usually put it off as long as I can. I’ve been that way my entire life. The whole thing of going to the doctor – seeing sick people, possibly blood is probably why. Plus, when you visit the doctor it means that you’re unwell – and I hate being unwell.
I chose my General Practitioner here based on his location. His office is located right next to where the school used to be (we moved last year) and not too far from where I live. There’s also a pharmacy across the street. In addition to convenience, he is friendly and speaks English quite well – something that I considered very important before I learned German and still do (I don’t have a large German medical vocabulary). I’ve stayed with him due to the fact that I haven’t had much wrong with me and he’s good at prescribing medication.
However, he’s more often than not concerned with his agenda rather than what the problem is.
Typical conversation:
J: Hi Doctor.
D: Hi, what’s wrong?
J: I have (medical problem).
D: You’re overweight.
J: I know.
D: You need to reduce your weight.
J: I know.
D: You need to exercise.
[Mind you, he doesn’t know me personally]
J: I do exercise.
D: You’re overweight.
J: I know. Is that what’s causing (medical problem)?
D: You don’t exercise.
J: Yes I do, I cycle. I enjoy going on daylong trips when the weather is nice and do shorter ones when it’s not, but not raining.
D: You should exercise.
J: I cycle.
D: How often?
J: Every day to work and around town, longer trips at weekends.
D: Do more.
J: Okay. Now about (medical problem)
This type of conversation happens on most of my infrequent visits to him and it’d get tiring if I had to have it on a regular basis.
Friday afternoon/evening – washed out.
Saturday – intermittent heavy showers that annoyed baseball fans and caused my Meetin group not to be able to eat outdoors.
Sunday – cloudy with a few sprinkles and then heavy rain at 15h30 for about 30 minutes. Saw the sun for about 15 minutes.
Monday – heavy rain overnight, morning thunderstorm and heavy rain continues as I type this.
Weather report for the rest of the week:
• a very muggy night that makes it difficult for some to sleep;
• a morning thunderstorm and torrential rain that brings the temperature more than ten degrees Celsius lower than the previous day;
• total cloud cover with threatening skies;
• more torrential rain a couple hours after the first bit stops;
• threatening skies the rest of the evening with intermittent rain.
Come on, summer! My weekend starts at 9h50 tomorrow and goes til 19h on Monday! I wanna have fun! I wanna enjoy lovely summer weather, not this BS:

I want, AND DEMAND, REAL summer weather.
I want to go cycling in shorts and a short sleeve shirt, not trousers and a sweatshirt!
I want to lay in the sun along the river and read my book!
I demand decent weather for barbecues!
It’s June and is officially summer as of today, SO START ACTING LIKE IT!!!!
