  • Great day today.
  • Enjoying a ‘My Secret‘ time right now.
  • Weather was warmer today (22ºC).

Great evening out w/Matt. No time to blog about it now, have to go to bed, being picked up early(ish) in the morning.

Germans are lousy at parking. They’ll park anywhere at anytime and not think twice about it, no matter how inconvenient it makes life for others.

No spaces left in the supermarket parking lot? Just park anywhere and go. Who cares if you block others in?

Is the shop you’re going to on a busy road with no street parking? No problem. Just hop the curb, park on the sidewalk, turn your car off and go about your business.

No parking spaces left for parallel parking on a street? No problem, just double park, turn the emergency flashers on, jump out of the car and run off into the shop. Who cares if there’s a line of five cars behind you?

This explains a lot!

Germany’s new ‘great depression’

Record numbers of Germans are suffering from depression and other mental illnesses, a new report says.

I’m doing better than I have been the last five days. I’ve dug my way out from under a pile (30) of 10 page exams, and the altercation with colleagues is being swept under the table instead of dealt with.

I had lunch and with Matt at the Chinese place this afternoon. It’s always fun going to lunch with him due to the fact that we always have great conversation, sometimes serious and sometimes silliness.

There might be something fun going on this weekend, but that’s still up in the air. However, if it happens, I think it’d be good for me to participate.

I’ll let you know.

BLAGNAC, France – The world’s largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, completed its maiden flight Wednesday, a milestone for aviation and for the European aircraft-maker’s battle with American rival Boeing Co.

The giant plane landed successfully to applause at 2:22 p.m (8:22 a.m. EDT) after a flight of nearly four hours. About 30,000 spectators watched the behemoth take off and touch down, 101 years after the Wright brothers achieved the first controlled, sustained flight.

The plane was carrying a crew of six and 22 tons of on-board test instruments.

but well enough to be considered good.

I’ve been having a rough time at work thanks to a few colleagues, and I’m not sure how much longer it’ll continue. However, my classes cheer me up, especially my Tuesday and Wednesday evening ones. We start the classes off with a review of our weekends, then move onto the coursework, which I frequently break up with humorous tangents and idle chitchat (sometimes even unintentionally).

We don’t have to be doing bookwork for them to be learning.

The Land of Crappy Weather is living up to it’s name again. The weekend was cold, cloudy and rainy, and the pattern’s been continuing today. I would love to see the sun again some day.

I’m stressed out. I have too much to do before I go on holiday (in 9 days) and no time to do it in. There are also a few not so nice things going on at work that I have to deal with.

On a brighter note….erm….ummm…sorry, can’t think of anything today.

Oh, and if one more idiotic German says, ‘Your English is very good for an American,’ I’m going to kill them.

Matt’s back, and he had a good time in England with his family. His flight landed at 9h50 and he caught the 10h30 bus back to Koblenz. He sent me an SMS, so I decided to meet him at the bus station and drive him back to his flat. He lives across town, a 25 minute walk from the bus station, but it’s less comfortable with a day pack and suitcase. Plus, I know what a difference it makes to have someone meet you and take you home instead of having to wander home alone.

We’ve decreed 16h to be beer o’clock today.

**** Update 15h30 ****

I’ve just received an SMS from Matt saying that Vince had just SMSed him to remind him that he promised to help Vince unload a van full of things for Vince’s new flat (the flat I should have been offered if David had actually remembered that I had told him I was looking for a new flat), and asking if I wanted to help. Considering how much I dislike Vince (especially because of recent incidents that I don’t care to go into), I declined (I hadn’t told Vince I would help him). Matt told me that he’d SMS me when he was available to see if I still wanted to have a few beers.

As long as Vince isn’t there, I’ll go.

**** Update 17h57 ****

Matt has just called me and asked me if I still wanted to go out for a beer. I declined, due to the fact that it’s a Sunday evening and that I really should stay in, correct exams (which I probably won’t do) and it’s just started raining. I like going out on Sunday afternoons, but like relaxing on Sunday evenings. I actually do feel a bit put off, but totally understand Matt’s need to keep a promise to Vince.

**** Update yet again (18h20) ****

Matt has just SMSed me to thank me for picking me up at the bus station and driving him home. Knowing him as well as I do, I’m fairly sure he feels guilty. I haven’t responded to him and don’t plan on doing so. However, it’s not due to the fact that he might think I’m mad at him (I’m not), it’s because:
1. I don’t think I need to;
2. I don’t want to spend the 17 cents an SMS would cost.

From the Hahn Airport website:

Four new destinations
Porto (Portugal), Bratislava (Slowakia), Gdansk and Rzeszow (both in Poland) are the new destinations which Ryanair offers in the wintertimetable 2005/2006. Tickets can be booked from now.

WOOO HOOO! Gdansk! Too bad flights don’t start til 30 October.
